Best Sound Card for Vista64

I've got an Asus A8N32 Sli Deluxe Mobo and my Creative X-Fi card started making all kinds of static after i reinstalled windows. I've been looking for a solution but with little to no results. So now I'm looking for a replacement card with decent to good performance for a 5.1 sound system PCI-E x1 interface but above all, few to none compatability issues with Vista 64. Thanks in advance.

Your onboard sound no good? I have a 4870 x2 and my xfi kept causing crashes, I know because once i removed it the problem went away. I use onboard sound {sound max} with my new board and its excellent, before that I had a mother with real tek and that wasn't to bad either. Unless you need it for sound mixing or whatever, your not going to get better sound anyways.

There are a couple of the "Best" sound cards for Vista, mostly Creative cards, but to get ANY hardware to be fully "Issue Free" is impossible...you just have to work out issues if they arise sometimes.
One thing I MUST make sure you know is, check with Asus to make sure your PCI-E x1 slot is not proprietary to that card. I know some of their other boards (Commando for one) has a proprietary x1 slot that ONLY the SoundMax Supreme sound card will work in. No other PCI-E x1 device will work in the x1 slot on those MB's, so make sure your's is Not one of these first.

I have been looking at the CREATIVE SOUND BLASTER X-FI PLATINUM FATAL1TY CHAMPION SERIES myself, which is PCI-E, but for a x1 slot I would go with the PCI Express Sound Blaster X-Fi Titanium Fatal1ty Professional Series

Thing is tho, if the current card worked before you reinstalled, it should work now so I would say that the drivers are not installed properly or are corrupt, or you have the wrong drivers.

+1; it works perfectly with Vista x64. 5.1 sound, DTS Connect, Dolby Digital Live all work with no issues. I ditched a static-laden X-Fi Platinum for the X-Fi Prelude.
