Error Installing TV Tuner card

I've recently bought a new desktop with Vista x64 Premium loaded on it. I've got a

Hauppauge Win TV HVR-1600 and I've downloaded the driver from their website that said it was compatible and when I attempt to install it I get the following:

Windows found the software for your device but encountered an error while installing it.

The error is: The system cannot find the file specified.

Again, I've looked through the forums and did all the take ownership, run as administrator, disable the signed driver stuff that was suggested. Nothing is working. Any help would be wonderful.

Hi

I have that same card and last year had to wait for Hauppauge to make a beta 64bit driver, it should be the release driver by now.

Do you want all the other crap (WinTV apps) or just the driver? I've never been able to get those WinTV apps to work so I just use Media Center and it works great.

I would download a new driver copy first (Link 4 you) unzip the contents and then run the hcwclear.exe to remove anything it tried to install the first times and reboot after it runs.
Before you reboot tho, you need to turn off the New Hardware auto install feature. Open Control panel, then System, click Advanced system settings on the left top, then click the hardware tab and then the Windows Driver update button and check the Never Check box...reboot.

Now go to the extracted driver folder. Do not use the Setup.exe but instead right click on the "HcwDriverInstall.exe" right click and select Run as Admin. This should install the proper 64bit drivers for this card now, reboot and check Device Mgr for your tuner, it's under the Sound, Video and Game Controllers.
Then setup MCE for your TV use as required, the MCE setup should detect the tuner.

Thanks for the advise Dave. I was very sure I had the correct driver, but I finnaly was able to get things working. Why it worked I have no idea, but since nothing was working for me and I didn't have anything loaded I used the system restore that was installed and took it back to whatever their "factory settings" were and I was able to get the same driver installed using the same procedures I had been trying for days.

So I guess something was wrong with the initial load, who knows. Lemon maybe???

So like I tell my wife, when in doubt reboot. Or in this case, reload???

Thanks,
