Graphiccard not installed

Hi all.
Just rebooted med pc, but cant update my videocard.
I have a Geforce 8600M GT 51. But when i go to Videosettings, it says VGA-Videocard.

I got a drivers cd from my sellsman. When i load i got a lot of drivers to choose. I select "VIDEO" - producer "NVIDA"

I download it, and run. It pops-up "Proceed" so yes. But afterwards nothing happens. - The setup vil not run.
- so im lost with nothing.

Games like Counter-Strike only runs in software mode :s

[And - i dont know if this has anything to do with it - so you dont have to help on this on: When i try to run CSs it loads like always, but then. Nothing happens - just like the setup for my videocard.]

Pls help?
(btw. From denmark and im very tierd - if its difficult to understand )

Re: Graphiccard not installed

Make sure the onboard graphics is turned off on the motherboard if you have one.
When you boot locate the device manager.
Delete the video card device.
Reboot the computer.

Re: Graphiccard not installed

Are you logged in as administrator.
Have you got UAC turned on or off?

Re: Graphiccard not installed

Nvidia / GeForce video likes to have it's "Nvidia Drivers" uninstalled from the "Programs&Features" list in Control Panel before different drivers are installed. In the case where there is more Nvidia devices than just video, Nvidia Drivers may offer a list of different drivers to maintain. EG: Nvidia Chipset, Nvidia LAN Nvidia Video. If so, just select "Nvidia Video" option and leave the other drivers installed. Also during install of drivers, you must be logged on as administrator. After uninstalling, a reboot is likely to be necessary and a "New Hardware Wizard" is likely to start when your system restarts. Have the contents of the zip file extracted to it's own folder before the restart so you can direct the hardware wizard to this folder for it to find the install files. I like to keep mine in subfolder of C:\Drivers\Name of Device\Version so I can find them later incase a driver reinstall is needed.

Nvidia also suggests disabling antivirus software while installing drivers.

I looked up your laptop and the VGA drivers from the maker of the laptop are here

The latest version on the list looks like 167.59 dated 05/05/08

Filename Nvidia_167.59_8600M_GT_Vista_64bit.zip

Other Drivers for your model can be found under
