| Windows 7 RC x64 Vista HP x86 | Re: My keyboard doesnt work Hi jezzalenko as it's a USB device I would tend to suspect that the drivers downloaded that caused the problems were USB related. what you need to do is "Roll Back" these drivers or un-install the update that loaded them. The problem is of course how do you do anything without a keyboard ![]() the easiest method would be to attach a PS2 type keyboard to the computer and use that to perform the repairs. If this is not possible, can you get into "safe mode", (press F8 repeatedly on boot till you see the Vista Boot Options Menu), if you get into safe mode you may find that the basic drivers loaded will enable you to use the keyboard and repair the problem. I would try to borrow a PS2 keyboard and try that way as it is a lot easier ... another option is to enable the vista on-screen keyboard The blue button lower right on the login screen |

| Windows 7 RC x64 Vista HP x86 | Re: My keyboard doesnt work OK jezzalenko, will have to try the on-screen keyboard method when you get to the log-on screen click on the blue button at the lower left of the screen and select to switch on the on-screen keyboard, this will allow you to log on. Once you are logged on go to the system tools - easy access centre and select the on-screen keyboard,(it may already be switched on, if so you can skip this step) once you have your keyboard you can go into control panel - device manager and roll back (right click on device and select "roll back " ) or run the update centre to uninstall the update that caused the fault. you may want to roll back the keyboard driver and the USB drivers to be sure but should be that when the one causing the problem is reset the keyboard will work (may need to re-boot ) Hope this helps - the on-screen keyboard is slow but is useful sometimes (I've actually type most of this post using it to make sure it worked OK in vista) |
