Vista 64/32 Dual Boot - Missing CD/DVD device driver installation screen

Hi gang....

Sorry if this has been answered before.... but I didn't see a solution for my setup.

I have a new Gateway DX4720-03 PC with Vista x64 Home Premium and a SATA Optiarc DVD AD-7203S SCSI Cdrom Device.

I have a legal copy of Vista Ultimate x86, which runs my external hardware Ok. But this hardware does not have a x64 driver for my x64 Vista I already have.

I love the x64 Vista, but I need to dual boot to get my external hardware working in the x86 Vista.

When I boot up from my Ultimate DVD, to setup Dual boot and install the x86 Vista... things go ok until I get to a screen that says I need to install a missing device driver for my DVD drive....

OK... I've tried all the tricks I've read except the one about switching the DVD to being on the Slave.... except, being SATA, how do you do that? Is there a jumper on the back of the SATA DVD to switch it????

Any ideas? SATA drives are new to me... Thanks a bunch!!

This has been a known problem with the x64 installs and SATA drivers - I have seen a couple of options on the net, one being (of course) get an IDE drive - but one that *seems* to have worked for some folks is to change the SATA option in BIOS from Native to Legacy (if such an option is available) to get it to work.

Failing that, you could post a list of some of the options that *are* available in your BIOS and we can mull them over to see if changing one (or more than one) will work or not....

More info... I left out that I have also installed a 500 Gig IDE disk drive earlier before trying to install the x86 Vista Dual boot... I don't know if that makes any difference.

I will check the BIOS for the info you gave me tonight and see what is in there.

Thanks!
