New Mouse and Keyboard

As a present this year I am getting a Logitech G9 Laser Mouse and a Logitech G15 Keyboard, but I am not sure how I am to install this stuff, I had problems last time with a different mouse in that, on reboot the pointer would not work and I had a hell of alot of bother, resulting in a format, some will remember this, this time I want to get it right.

So when I get the goods, do I install the software off the disk for both the mouse and keyboard? or do I get the latest from the Net? and what gets installed first, hardware plugged in or software first?

The answers may seem obvious to most, but not to me as I am scared of cocking things up yet again, and I want things to go nice and smooth

I saw both the mouse on a leaflet that was in the box of the Crysis Game and only noticed it the other night and loved the looks of them and what it said they do, but installing hardware with software is not my strong point at all.

Re: New Mouse and Keyboard

I would download the latest software for the mouse and keyboard cause the disc software would be old and the new software has fixes that the disc wouldn't. I plugged in my mouse before I even installed the drivers for it windows will install the generic drivers so you can use the keyboard and mouse.

Re: New Mouse and Keyboard

Hi mate,

Things is that I did what you did with plugging in the mouse with another one I had before putting the software in and Windows did'nt insall any generic driver hence the mouse would not respond and I was in a right pickle with it, so I am very nervous about it........I must have fomatted more than my alotted 5 times and so I am hoping that I do not need to resort to such drastic measures again lol

Don't get me wrong, my Vista is legit its just that I am not comfortable on the phone to anyone and avoid any and all most of the time, I know the activating can be done online, but after so many, I think its 5 isn't it? I may be wrong, you have to then ring up to get a new key

So I really hope this all goes well, I should have the stuff Thursday/Friday and am excited, but edgy too lol........this sort of thing is meant to be fun isn't it? not for me, I get to stressed lol

Re: New Mouse and Keyboard

I have a G15 Keyboard and my only peeve is that I still haven't been able to get 64bit drivers for it. My G7 mouse was having issues but it turned out to be to many close connections to it, after re-arrengeing the other devices, it worked smoothly but I never had a problem with Vista not installing the generic drivers for it.

Perhaps once you install your G15 KB with Crysis, you can teach me how to set up the different Suit options so I can use 1 KB key instead of having to use a 2 key action for it.

Bearing in mind the other posts now since I have come on, does this mean you still would like my help with your setup? let me know, although I can't guarantee I'll be of any use to you, but I am always willing to help if I can

That said I am hoping that after reading a few of these posts that I am not making a bad mistake by buying these pieces of kit

I always ask after and never before mostly because I fear the replies

Re: New Mouse and Keyboard

I have come to learn, even after a few post here that, the folks here at Vista forums are very friendly and helpful at the same time. This is one of the reason why I tend to try to help and/or mingle with the crowd, they make you feel right at home.

Yes, I would still love for you to help me with those settings even though I already finish the game, I might want to go at it again if I know how to do that. I tried setting a Macro but it didn't take it.

When I get home, I am going to try the new drivers, perhaps after installing them, the macro might take but I doubt that very much, I must be doing something wrong.
