Vista - Eizo L985EX driver for x64

hi, i'm a driver noob

i really love this lcd (the eizo l985ex), and because it is discontinued, i have no driver for Vx64 which i installed recently.

can you guys help (or direct me to someone who could help) me by modifying a driver for this os? i'm sure there will be more people glad (i know a few).
i can provide the xp32 drivers, though they are easy to find on the producer's website.

the thing is a new lcd that could really replace this one's graphic/dtp performance would top $1k in retail and...

so thanks in advance, hopefully i'll find some altruistic experts around here

As for modified drivers for the LCD, I am not sure if anyone can help - is there any particular reason you want a driver for the LCD itself?

well, that is a ruff question... or answer
never thought of that before just because i had all my monitors installed with their drivers, not just as a generic monitor so i never imagined why or if it would work like that.

but.
there is something special about this monitor that i was thinking i could hold on to.

the lcd has also a usb connection trough which i can control the color, luminosity, settings AND assign a different settings profile for each app i use. that is great because it helps me control the color profiles easier and better.
that is the thing i love the lcd for (and because i have it for almost 4 years and i cannot afford a new one of course). it also automatically adjusts its setting when i focus on an app while multitasking. so it just works by itself and is a great piece of machinery, now only available at impossible prices (like the eizo CG series going over $3k)

now, the app works, i installed it and it does the same beautiful thing, but vista still detects a generic PnP monitor, and i just wanted to be sure it is doing the right thing

so i am not exactly in a _huge_ mess, but just that i _need_ to be sure that i am sending the right stuff to my coworkers or to printers

You can use XP with 8 GB of RAM - just needs to be XP 64bit.

As far as the monitor, if the application you installed for customized settings works, then I'd say don't worry about the driver - the driver will really only do things like limit the possible resolutions so you don't accidentally pick one that could potentially harm your computer, but Windows is pretty resilient to these things anyway, and so are monitors. However, it is possible that your monitor may have some extended functions as well, and thus it may be beneficial to have the drivers for the monitor itself.

Have you considered contacting the company? Since they sell such high end monitors I am surprised that they have no support for it in Vista - I mean, they have to *expect* that someone buying a high end monitor like that is not going to just replace it on a whim, even after buying a new computer....

i took a peek inside the xp driver and i have not seen things that could affect my display settings. but what do i know?, it is all mind boggling in there

the lcd is discontinued for more than 1 year and it was produced in 2003. now it retails (if found) for around $1.500 and refurbished for around $500. considering the price tags and the monitors eizo sells, i think they really mean discontinued

i will contact them though, just for peace of mind, because the lcd is still perfect -- just a bit yellowish on the plastic -- and i think i will hold on to it for another couple of years.

i did some "research" and i decided to go for vista instead of xp. i recently upgraded and i have a 5.9/5.9/5.9/5.6/5.6 rating so i am very happy with it. anyways, being a discontinued product, they do not offer support for xp64 either.

According to the Eizo website, 64-bit Vista support is vailable for your monitor. Click on the following link: EIZO / Software and then follow either method described below.

Method 1 - Categories (Recommended). Under Product Type select LCD Monitors. Next, under Model select FlexScanL985EX and finally under OS select Windows Vista 64-bit. Click Go.

Method 2 - Keyword. In this text box, enter L985EX and then click Go.

Both methods will take you to the downloads page itself, but the first method narrows the results down. There are only 2 options available, viz EIZO ScreenManager Pro for LCD (USB Connection) and EIZO ScreenSlicer.
