Vista - Driver for bluetooth device not installing

Hey.. Downloaded a driver from Broadcom to work with my BCM Bluetooth device, but the installation package (after the update process) says it failed to install.. Weird.. I have Vista Ultimate x64.

Is the driver actually marked for use with a 64bit Operating system?

Yeah, I download the driver repeatedly as it gets updated - filename btwinitialupdate.exe - can be downloaded from Broadcom Corporation - Bluetooth Software Download - and it works for my IOGear BT dongle.

It is possible that your device may, in fact, required Blue Soleil drivers instead - and those are not free, IIRC....

Well, it is indeed quite weird as it did work with the 32-Bit system.. It's as if something with the installation package isn't working, and I can't quite figure out what it is..

Name of file? And size? I have one that I last downloaded this past June, so I could send you that - but the problem is that it just connects to the Internet and gets the actual drivers from the Broadcom site, so you should essentially have the same thing - a roughly 405KB file named btwinitialupdate.exe

That's the one I have.. Am running Driver Checker as we speak to see whether that makes a difference.

I have a Trendnet Bluetooth dongle that I installed on my XP OS before installing Vista. Once Vista was installed, the drivers failed to install. Blue Solei told me they did not support Vista 64 and that I would needed to pay for x64 drivers.

Luckily for me, a friend of mine had them and I was able to install... I will make it a habit not to buy anything from those people again.

I don't advocate piracy but if you pay for something, they should support it.
