USB Mouse not working after Vista goes to sleep

Running Vista Home Ult 64. I have a USB mouse, which is listed in the DMgr as "HID compliant device". There are no drivers for the mouse, which is by Kingwin.

If I wake the computer with the keybaord, the mouse functions fine. If I wake the computer with the keyboard, the mouse no longer functions. Doesn't even function after a reboot. The only way to get it to function is to unplug it from it's USB port, and then back in again. Called ASUS, and they said I do have the right amperage coming from the PSU. Called Kingwin - no help there. Tried all USB ports, and they all act the same way. PS/2 mouse functions with no problems.

Any ideas here?

Thanks in advance.

I looked at Kingwin's site, and assuming you this mouse - Welcome to Kingwin.com!, yeah...there are no driver downloads. Wow!!! Did the mouse even come with disk with drivers? Do they have Vista 64, if not...

Hate to say this, but you might opt for something that has 64-bit support.

Sorry.

Hi - thanks for the response.

Actually, it's the KW-02...one step up! LOL

System Requirements:IBM PC or compatible
Available USB Port
Windows 98SE/ME/2000/XP/Vista

The mouse did not come with disk drivers. The manufacturer says there are no drivers.

I mean, it was $5 at newegg, but it's not the the money at this point; it is the desire to know what causes this.

Cheers.

Do you have the chipset drivers installed for the motherboard?

Do you have any issues with other USB devices?

Have you checked motherboard's BIOS for USB settings?

Did the mouse only have problems under Vista x64?

When you spoke to Kingwin, did you ask if this Mouse was supported by Vista x64?

I would suggest you work on those questions; you may find your answer in them. Or... you could wound up replacing the mouse.

Do you have the chipset drivers installed for the motherboard?

Yes.

Do you have any issues with other USB devices?

Only other USB device is a stick, which works fine, but in a different way than a mouse.

Have you checked motherboard's BIOS for USB settings?

Yes - everything is stock; changing some settings (sleep, for ex.) does not help

Did the mouse only have problems under Vista x64?

Have not tried it under XP, but will.

When you spoke to Kingwin, did you ask if this Mouse was supported by Vista x64?

They said yes.

Something else - I tried another USB optical wireless mouse (the Kingwin is wired optical), which is bt MS. Unlike the Kingwin, I can not wake Vista with the mouse, but with the kbd only. Which tells me nothing, as waking Vista with the kbd resulted in the Kingwin working.

Thanks again.

What motherboard do you have? Make & Model. And is your keyboard wireless? Is it a Kingwin as well?

Oh...help me out here, what's - bt MS.?

OK, check this out,

Go into your BIOS and look at your USB settings and make sure "Legacy" is enabled. Then go into device manager look for your mouse, right click and choose "Properties" click the "Power Management" tab and make sure the check box "Allow this device to wake the computer" is checked. Click OK and close everything, put your computer to sleep and test. Does it work now?

Ha - good ideas.

"Legacy" is enabled; tried it with disabled for S&Gs.

In the DMgr, "Allow this device to wake the computer" is in fact checked.

Just bought a MS 3000 optical corded mouse. Works fine. So obviously, the Kingwin is not liked by Vista. $5 down the drain...no biggie.

Thanks for the time.

Good move - getting another mouse. Glad it worked out for you.

Peace
