Help! I have tried everything I can think of to remove and/or reinstall the Display Drivers on a brand new build. I'm running Vista x64 Ultimate. CANNOT GET IT TO INSTALL. How can you tell if you have a bad Graphics card?

If you are running Vista, it will inmediately install Generic Drivers for everything you have but, you can always install the latest drivers for your card as long as the manufacturer has drivers for it. What or how are you trying to uninstall the drivers?

I would say that if the video card is bad or damage, you wouldn't be able to see anything on the monitor but, I could be wrong here.

Did you remember to install the motherboard drivers?

nForce Driver

As AstaLaVista said Vista will install generic drivers for most things, but there are a few bits and pieces that it doesn't. If you didn't install the motherboard drivers grab them from the link above and when installing make sure to select custom install, and do not install the NAM or Away Mode drivers.

Though it doesn't list it that driver package also contains a video driver, which you can opt to install or not, and go with the latest one,

GeForce Release 181

I've tried to install both Drivers listed. It goes through them motions, reboots, and still says it is not installed. I've tried running driver sweeper, then installing (in safe moed and regular) - still no luck. I've tried older drivers - no luch their, either.

Is there a way to block vista from installing the drivers when it detects the video card upon reboot?
