My CD ROM doesn't open

hi to all..
I have a Dell Inspiron 1520 Laptop with windows vista ultimate opearting system.. the perblem is my cd\rw drive doesn't opening ..also, when I clicked on computer icon, the cd drive doesn't apper.. I tried to install the drive from dell website , but it didn't worked.. should i format my laptop to solve this problem???..

Does the CD ROM open when you first turn the laptop on. Press power button then open the drive

yes .. it just lights up when i turn on the laptop, then after 1 second it doesn't work..

Search is your friend.

I explained how to fix this problem in another post ->>> DVD RW missing problem

Follow the directions and all should work. This is a common Vista bug.

regedit is already installed, to get to it go to your start menu, and select run... then type regedit into the dialog box.

Make sure to follow the instructions to the letter, if you poke around in regedit you can screw up the machine.

This same thing happened to me on my new HP. I noticed the plug in the back of the CD/DVD drive was not all the way in. You may want to check that just to make sure.

I Installed the registry booster 2009 then update it to the leates version.. i scanned my computer and restart it , but the problem still not solved yet..

i write the word (regedit) in the Run program . then, a dialog box apper .. then what to do??
