Hi MaxxFusion and welcome to Vista Forums
This took quite a bit of looking up as on the Asus website it states that the board uses the
GeForce 8300 chipset. However, that is not the chipset itself, that is the graphics part. I did some more looking, and downloaded the motherboard manual. Scanning through this revealed that the chipset is in fact
NForce 780a SLI. As a result of this, I have managed to locate some drivers for you. They should work in both Vista and Windows 7.
32-bit:
nForce Driver
64-bit:
nForce Driver
When you have downloaded the files, run the installer to extract the contents. When the setup screen appears, cancel the installation. On your
C drive, there will be a folder callled
NVIDIA. Inside that folder will be another folder called
nForceWinVista (for 32-bit) or
nForceWinVista64 (for 64-bit). Within that folder is another folder,
15.24. Copy this folder to removeable media.
When you install Vista, have this media ready. At the appropriate point during setup where you need to provide storage drivers, browse to the following location:
32-bit:
<drive>:\15.24\IS\IDE\WinVista\sataraid
64-bit:
<drive>:\15.24\IS\IDE\WinVista64\sataraid
Vista will load the appropriate drivers. Note that there will actually be 2 drivers that need to be installed, and you will need to select them both.
Leave the media with these drivers on attached to your computer because you will need to install the rest of the drivers once Vista has finished installing. This time, browse to the following location
<drive>:\15.24\IS\ and click on
setup (the application) and follow the on-screen instructions. I recommend that you install all of the drivers provided.
Hope this helps.
