Renew its address from the network

I'm getting in the event viewe this message "Your computer was not able to renew its address from the network (from the DHCP Server) for the Network Card with network address 0013E8333FC3. The following error occurred: The semaphore timeout period has expired.. Your computer will continue to try and obtain an address on its own from the network address (DHCP) server." I've looked here Event ID 1003 — DHCP Client Lease Validity and made sure the DHCP is automatic / started but to no avail. Were could it come ? I'm using a Laptop, Vista Ultimate, no connection to a network, excepte a WiFi one. Any advise / clue would be welcome.

You may want to ask someone who knows for sure but this may be when you use the command prompt and type "ipconfig/renew" no quotes.

This is a guess (that's my disclaimer)

It is when your wireless card communicates with your router you will get that error when it doesn't respond within the certain time limit. I get it all the time and have no problems.

I've found that this happens for me coincident with my wireless router losing the Internet connection with the cable modem. Access reverts to "local access only", until an IP address lease can be sourced from the cable modem again. I do not know why this is happening. But in the logs, Event ID 1003 appears at about that time.
