need help -- canon eos digital rebel xt

Hi all, i am in need of camera drivers for my dslr, i have a Canon EOS Digital Rebel XT and it works when i have the communication set to print/ptp, but i need to be able to set it to pc connection, and vista x64 cannot find the right drivers for me to do that, is there anything anyone could tell me that would help me or direct me to a place to find the correct drivers?

I'm not sure what you're looking for, but you can check here - Canon EOS Digital Rebel Xt

However according to the linked page I posted, there are no 64-bit drivers as they aren't needed or 64-bit may not be supported.

So you want to connect it to your computer?...

It might just be easier to take the SD card out (assuming it has an SD card) and using a card reader.

Re: need help -- canon eos digital rebel xt

From what I have managed to parse out of the original post the OP wants to connect to a computer using the 'PC Connection' option.

If the OP can connect to a computer with the 'Print/PTP' option then why change?

But the OP would not have posted if it was all merry. You said yourself "There are no 64-bit drivers as they aren't needed or 64-bit may not be supported." so where does that leave the OP?

If no 64-bit drivers can be found then it will not work thus my suggestion about the SD card.

Unless of course he wants his camera to communicate with his computer for other reasons.

Example - My old Nikon F5 film camera offers the capability of communicating with my computer for added functions; obviously downloading photos from it wasn't one of those options.

But as we both noted - if there are no 64-bit drivers - he may be out of luck.

Re: need help -- canon eos digital rebel xt

the reason for connecting the camera with the "pc connection" option is to enable the computer to control the camera, example being using the computer to take the picture and store the picture directly to the hard drive

Re: need help -- canon eos digital rebel xt

OK I see your point.

I found Official Canon Drivers and Software. It doesn't actually have the EOS Digital Rebel XT but it might just be under a different name.

EDIT: Found it @ http://software.canon-europe.com/products/0010298.asp . It was listed as the EOS 350D (well actually the EOS 30D but I guess that was a typo)
