Hi,
I have a Acer Aspire 6920 that doesn't read nor burn dvd or cd's anymore because the Slimtype DVD A DS8A1P ATA software is missing from my notebook (code 39)
So I was wondering if anybody could help me fix this problem so my notebook can read cd/dvd's again.

thanks

@ Mrtyn, try these procedures here - You can no longer access the CD drive or the DVD drive, or you receive an error message after you remove a CD recording program or a DVD recording program in Windows XP: "error code 31" - It "might" fix your problem. Yes these procedures work on Vista.

@kword88, What's up with website you're linking to??? I'm always suspicious when a site I attempt to open tries to install software before allowing me to see the site; especially when IE blocks the site! :eek:

@sygnus21
thanks for your reply, but I'm not really a computer genius
So I don't think I want to try the Registry Editor because of the warning.

I think I'm going to call Acer today so see if they can do anything to help me,
because I really can't think of simple solution for my problem.
But really, thanks anyway.

WARNING: Using Registry Editor incorrectly can cause serious problems that may require you to reinstall your operating system.
