Print Spooler (Service in MSConfig) causes many issues. Help?

Hi. Firstly, sorry if this is the wrong section, but I didn't really know where to put it.

Now this is my problem: Randomly, my laptop running (Windows Vista Home Premium 32bit) began behaving oddly. Control panel would crash whenever I tried to access it, I couldn't connect to any networks (wireless or hardwired) and my anti-virus wouldn't run.

After trying various things to no avail (everything ran fine in Safe mode) I tried a system restore. This was unsuccessful, not only leaving the same problem, but adding to it. Now whenever the computer booted it, after login the screen would go black and I'd have to Alt-Ctrl-Delete, end "explorer" and start it back up again.

After system restore failed, I decided it may be a service issue, so disabled almost everything and put the services back on 5 at a time. Using this method I found out the Print Spooler was the cause of these issues. Keeping that disabled everything runs fine. However I need to use my printer - thus the problem.

Does anyone have any knowledge of this, or why it would occur? Although it's not terrible that I can't print, it's quite inconvinient. Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks.
