| Vista Home Premium 64bit | Optical drives dissapeared I think it was after the updates loaded for windows incl. sp1 or after the vista patch for the game witcher which came from the microsoft site. Problem is that my optical drives dissappeared and the wireless adapter seemed to become D drive. Device manager says drivers missing but windows says has latest drivers. Have disk for both LG drives but computer cant see drive to be able to run. Help pls. |

| 7 Ultimate 64Bit(retail) Primary OS, 7 RC 64Bit Secondary, ubuntu 9.10 on Virtual Box | Re: Optical drives dissapeared Look in the device manager under dvd/cd rom drives and right click to uninstall there. Following a system restart Windows should see the default drivers installed automatically. You can also look in the Disk Management tool with a disk in each drive to see if a drive letter is presently assigned to each one. |

| Vista Home Premium 64bit | Re: Optical drives dissapeared Thanks for reponse. I uninstalled and rebooted. Windows searched and then attempted to install drivers. Actioned failed on both drives account claimed drivers were orrupt or missing. code 39. There is a D drive shown in " my computer" but computer doesnt repond to actual drive ie insert disk in either D or e drive and cant see. Device manager shows exclamation marks on both drives. properties on drives say windows cannot load drivers account driver corrupt or missing. Tried to roll back and update drivers but windows says that the best drivers are installed. Thought maybe the lower or upper filters and ran regedit but couldnt find files to delete so chickened out.
