| Windows Vista Home Premium x64 SP2 | Tablet functionality on laptop no longer works Hey all, I am having trouble with my Tablet PC. I sent this email to HP, but their email response service is apparently down until Monday :/ I'd rather not wait that long, so this is exactly what I sent them. Any suggestions to help get my tablet working again would be great. Thanks in advance. -------- "Please provide the exact problem description." Hello. Recently the touch screen input has stopped working entirely on my tx2000 series Tablet PC. I believe that the issue is related to the "Wacom Touch Serivce". Below is a direct link to a screen-shot of three relevant windows, from top to bottom respectively; * http://img525.imageshack.us/img525/470/tablethelp.png * 1] The Services window. 2] The error that is produced when I attempt to Start the service manually in the Services window. 3] The service as it appears in the System Configuration window. This second link shows a relevant portion of my Device Manager, which is showing no errors whatsoever; * http://img135.imageshack.us/img135/4...icemanager.png * I also have one more screen-shot that appears to show there is nothing wrong with the drivers or software; * http://img211.imageshack.us/img211/8554/cptablet.png * All of the options and menus appear in the Control Panel properly. These things in mind, it appears to me that Wacom Touch Service is the issue. I am not sure what I can do to resolve this, since reinstalling the drivers has not allowed the service to start. ---------- "Please provide previous troubleshooting steps, or information that can help HP assist you." I have both uninstalled and reinstalled the latest recommended drivers on the HP Support website in Safe Mode; "Wacom Digitizer Driver 5.05-5_HP5 A" or "sp38191.exe". ---------- "Has anything changed since the unit functioned properly (installation of SW, settings, cabling, etc.)" I can not say specifically what changed on my system around the time that the Tablet functionality stopped working. However I have not performed any major software changes recently, and no hardware changes. -------- |

| Windows Vista Home Premium x64 SP2 | Re: Tablet functionality on laptop no longer works Hi rini! At least I'm not the only person with this issue, it makes me quiteangry that I paid so much extra money for tablet functionality that completely ceased working when I could have ended up with a much faster [non-touch] laptop at the same price.. I still poke around google now and then for new things to try, but nothing has worked. The only thing I can say is that I pre-ordered Windows 7 a while back, so when I receive it late October/early November, I will let you know if completely reinstalling the operating system solves our issue. Until then I think we're still out of luck ![]() edit: I should also mention that HP's response to my email was completely asinine despite my close attention to detail in the first mail I sent.. By their second response my correct course of action was reinstalling Vista, which involved ordering my [free + $shipping] Vista discs from HP. No thanks HP, you may keep them. | Windows Vista Home Premium x64 SP2 | Re: Tablet functionality on laptop no longer works Just wanted to stop back and mention that I installed Windows 7 over the weekend (formant + clean install) and my tablet functionality has returned completely. By this I guess we can assume that reinstalling Vista/Win7 is the best solution for others with this issue. |
