hi guys, well, im new, so first hello :)
i hope you guys can help me with my problem.

i got a computer, wich i baught new in the store's and it had windows vista already preinstalled. it was windows vista home edition 32bit.
but after alot of stupid things of me becuz the pc was very slow, i decided to format the whole pc, and install windows xp on it, i got the xp cd , and i putted it in, and it just wont install windows xp on it, everytime, i get the blue screen and it restarted everytime the xp installation, so first you can format the partitions, then it requires a reboot, and then the xp installation starts again from scratch, so its unable to install xp, but thats not my question.

so i decided to download a windows vista ultimate edition, 32 bit, and i burned it on a dvd and i putted it in my computer, and the boot from the dvd was good.

then it asks where do you want to install windows, well, the page was blank
it could not find any drives, or well, i dont know.
then it says you want to load a driver, ( driver?? drive?? ) i dont understand this so good.

i was hoping you guys can help me out, and i just want my normal pc back with a good vista, i cannot go to a pc store, becuz that takes too much time i wanna try it like this first, i hope you guys can help me !

i readed some stuff, about that other guys, had this problem too, so i readed some topics, but i dont understand what to do, the technicion talk is too hard for me.

my motherboard is : asus m2n68-la
my hard drive is : seagate barracuda 7200-10 ( 360gb )
i got a dual core amd processor
and a graphics card nvidia geforce 512mb ( 9400GT or 9800GT )
3gb ram memory

so thanks alot i hope you guys can help me.

If the partition screen is blank, then your hard drive is not getting detected by the setup. check in BIOS if the hard drive is getting detected. Try swapping the ports on the motherboard for hard drive cable. let us know if it helps.

Hi Bezem, Welcome to the Forum,

When you try to install XP and it restarts, do not press a key to start from CD when prompted as it restarts the installation. Simply let it do its own thing. It would probably be easier to install Vista

With the Vista and Probably the XP install you need to load Drivers, these are found on your Motherboard cd. (for XP you may need them on a floppy disc) or you can go here to get them;
ASUSTeK Computer Inc.-Support-
You will have to give in the Motherboard details and your OS. When downloaded you need to burn these drivers to a CD.

On the motherboard cd you are looking for a folder called, something like NVIDIA Chipset Drivers. On the prompt to install Drivers from Vista you can insert this CD in the second drive and search/look through it until you find the Driver you need. The name of this driver will end .inf
Vista will not see anyother content of the folders so if one seems empty try another until you find the right one, then follow the on screen display to install the driver and Vista

Hi bezem,

Download the chipset driver for vista, save it to the desktop
Extract the file to the desk top using a zip programm this will give you a folder NVIDIAnForce_Chipset open this folder and go into the folder IDE, go into the folder WinVista, go into the folder sata_ide, You will now see a list of files these are the drivers you need.

To get these drivers to the install.
Burn the Folder NVIDIAnForce_Chipset to a disk
Install Vista, when it asks for drivers, insert the Cd you have just burnt
Take the option to search/look for the drivers point it to the CD drive, and then open the folders as I showed you in the last paragraph down to the folder sata_ide.
Then all you do is press to accept and install these drivers.

I think the la board is just a special make for firms like hp. The chipset drivers from the m2n68 board should still work

No. But if you are lucky they will be installed by Vista anyway

You do not need to do anything here it does not apply

ok i did that all, i putted them on a usb stick , and then in the installation of windows vista, i searched for the drivers, on the stick, in sata_ide folder.
but then i click on next, it's installing then then it pops back to the partition screen, and its empty.
so its working but i still cant see anything to install vista on.

not good. ( as i know there is 1 ntfs partition on the sata disk )

Where did you get this is it genuine? as this might be the cause of your problem
You should be able to get a media DVD from your computer manufacturer
