Realtek RTL8101

I bought a new Fujitsu Siemens Amilo Li3170 with Windows Vista Home Basic, and then upgraded it with Windows Vista Ultimate. Most things seem to run fine, but a fatal element missing is the net connection. Something is wrong with the wireless network adapter, because a notice: The network adapter “Realtek RTL8101 Family PCI-E Fast Ethernet NIC (NDIS 6.0)” is experiencing driver or hardware related issues.
Previous version of Vista used to work smoothly?
What should be done?

I would download the latest driver for it from Realtek, uninstall the one you have now, restart and install a fresh copy... never let Windows update drivers on its own via Windows Update.

Thanks for the idea. I followed the advice - uninstall, RS and install the new drivers, but the machine is still numb. Seems that the drivers on the Realtek homepage

Realtek
are just not compatible with it.
Any alternatives?

I had the same problem with my dell.
I went onto the Hewlett Packard website and downloaded to disk this update.
Realtek RTL81XX Series LAN Driver Update

I then ran the update & problem gone.

:D
