Vista - "Windows driver framework has detected an error"...Help..

I'm trying to update the software for a golf GPS and every time I get half way through the installation my computer crashes and I get the error message "Windows driver framework has detected an error."

I contacted the GPS company and they told me it's a problem occurring either in the Windows Operating system or the USB ports on the computer are intermittently failing.

How can I check/fix the problem???

When your computer crashes do you get a Blue Screen?

Can you please give us the details of the bluescreen which you are getting.

The blue screen only lasts for a few seconds...I was only able to read "windows driver framework has detected an error" and then the computer reboots.

You can try to disable automatic restart in advanced options. And then try again.

Hit pause/break key when you get the BSOD

This time when I tried it, I didn't get the BSOD...the computer just shut down and restarted....this time I got the black screen that said windows did not shut down properly.
