Lexmark X1100 to Vista

I need a simple answer. I have looked through the posts and am a little confused.I have a lexmark X1100 printer and am running Windows Vista and I am not able to use my printer. Is there anyway for me to make this printer compatible with windows vista? I have looked for the drivers and there is none for X1100.

Things which have worked for me are:

1) Make sure all previous versions of drivers (or previous attampts to install outdated drivers eg XP versions) are uninstalled. Download and Run the Lexmark cleanup utility here if needed: ftp://ftp.lexmark.com/driver/inkjet_drivers/Cleanup/

2) It seems that although the lexmark website says your exact printer doesn't exist, however, the ftp site includes a set of drivers for the "X1100 Series", here: ftp://ftp.lexmark.com/driver/inkjet_drivers/1100 Series/
Download it to somewhere sensible, then run it, it will unzip a load of files to your C drive.

3) In my experience so far, ie hours of my life trying to make my own X3350 install, I have found it easier to use the windows installer which comes up in Vista automatically when I plug in my Printer, *then* use the windows installer to search my hard drive for the files that were unzipped in the previous step, then it installs them all and the Setup.exe file runs automatically when I do this which includes all the printer software.
[However if this doesn't work try installing it using the lexmark utility and plugging in the printer when it asks you to!]

Finally:

If the install files on the ftp site don't work, have you tried using the ones for the X1110 which are available on the Lexmark website? They often have files which work for a complete series which covers several machines.
And have you definitely checked here (Lexmark - United States) as well?

Sorry if this includes options you have already tried and I understand the frustration of having a great printer which no longer works!
