external hard drive reset plz

    external hard drive reset plz

    How do you reset it? I bought it one day at FRYS and I put a password and now I forgot that password. Is there anyway to reset it?
    Please share.
    I know I'm an idiot and fail at like for forgetting it. ;_;
    It's a MAXTOR by the way

    Did you right click the Hard drive and then format it?

    How do I do that? Whe I open the hard drive, it says I have to unlock it but I forgot my password. ;_; Cuz I'm an idiot and REALLY should write things down.

    Hello pride, do not open the hard drive, simply right click the hard drive and then click Format.

    Thanks for the help, but i finally figured it out. I went to the site and figured out I had to launch the maxtor manager and go to security and other options and they gave the option of erasing the hard drive. ^_^
