Windows aborts on startup

I (44 yrs old dad and above average home pc user, loves fps games) have serious startup problems, and Vista takes like a lunch to boot.

Last couple of months my lap (HP Pavilion dv7, T9400, 4 GB, SP1) mostly stops loading before the winlogo and logonscreen. Then I have to do the song'n dance with every possible option given by way of F8 on boot - no go.

Finally I did the ntblog-ting, wich said:

Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\Drivers\NDProxy.SYS
Did not load driver \SystemRoot\System32\DRIVERS\srv.sys

I googled and ended here.

What am I supposed to do after running SFC /SCANNOW ? What does it tell me. Any other suggestions?
