| Vista Ultimate x64 SP1 | Problem with Sony Laptop (VISTA) My laptop is a Sony Vaio VGN-FZ480E which I think is having driver problems. Whatever I put into the SD/MS slots or any USB slots won't work with the computer. It tells me to format it, and it will only work with it after I format it. My memory cards and flash drives work everywhere else, just not with this computer. As you can imagine, its a huge problem for me as i cannot use anything external with this computer. Please someone help me figure out the problem and solve it. Thank you. My laptop hardware is as follows: T8100 Processor (2.1 Ghz) 320 GB hard drive 3 GB RAM Vista Premium x86 PLEASE SAVE ME!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! |

| Vista Ultimate 32bit | Re: Problem with Sony Laptop (VISTA) Hi t3m0, You can go check if the devices are working properly at device manager. Well if nothing is working (usb,sd...) there is a way to solve it but this is the base option i am giving you. DO a custom re installation of ur OS. If u dont like this option i could help u out if u give me the exact readings your computer is giving when u plug it in and what ur device manager says about the device. |

You're right, a complete re-installation would work, but I don't want to do that because it will delete all my data and will force a reformat of my hard drive. I would much rather just wait for Windows 7 or find another way around. When I plug in my externals, the computer doesn't prompt anything until I open my computer and click on the SD/MS or USB icon. Thanks |

| Vista Ultimate 32bit | Re: Problem with Sony Laptop (VISTA) Well everyone know that we lose the data if we have a re installation. If u r keeping very important data which u cant afford to lose have it back up in a flash drive or a DVD. U can even use software's like Nero to backup things |
