Hello prit,
Maybe you could give us a bit more information.
What Vista OS do you have ?. x32/x64
When you say it doesn't work, what is it doing, do you get an error message ?.
The more info you give us the better.

It should run OK with the generic driver supplied by Vista.
Go to device manager and un-install the DVD/CD drive.
Reboot and it will install the device, and load the generic driver.
Good luck and post your results.

Can you go in to the bios and see if it is being recognised there, let me know what you find.

OK. It sounds like there is a loose connector, can you check to see if all the leads are pushed home securely in the drive itself.
Also remove the battery for 5 mins, i have had it where the bios does not recognise the drive, but removing the power from it seems to reset it.
Give this a go and post your results. Good luck.
