| Vista Home Premium 65 bit | Finally got the HP 6L printer to work with Vista (64 bit) I have no idea as I had been through the Add Hardware and Add Printer for Vista Home Premium (64 bit). When I would try to print I would get the "error" on the 6L printer. I had no problem with the HP 7500 series printer. I had tried to use the USB port on my Belken USB 4 port hub. No good. I tried the USB port on the back of the tower. No good. In frustration I hooked the USB cable to the USB port in the front of the tower. Viola. It works and has for several tries. |

| Vista home premium 64 bit | Do the usb sockets on the back of your tower work with other periferals? Go into device manager to see if there is a problem. |

| Vista Home Premium 65 bit | No the USB (both) sockets both work fine with all my other devices. I've got several USB leads for other devices including the HP 7500 multi function printer tied into a Belken multi socket port that all work fine. |

| Vista home premium 64 bit | The only thing that may be causing this is the difference between use 1 and 2. In the manual does it state that there are two different types of USB on the mobo? |

| Vista Home Premium 65 bit | If when you say manual you mean for the HP 6L this printer is over 10 years old and I lost the manual who knows when. Everything except the HP 6L works on all four USB sockets and the Belken socket port. At this point while I'm not wild about the USB cord in the front of the tower my printer works which makes me happy. |

| Vista home premium 64 bit | The printer uses usb 1 and not 2. If your motherboard has different standards of usb ports this may explain the problem. If you are happy that your printer is working then let me know and I will mark this thred as solved. |

| Vista Home Premium 65 bit | Understand I'm an absolute neophyte as it respects computers. If there is a "simple" way to change I'd be interested. If involves anything complicated or taking the tower apart I'll live with the USB port in the front. I really do appreciate your time in researching this matter. |

| Vista Home Premium 65 bit | As for what the motherboard is I have no idea but it's got a Intel Pentium processor at 2.6Ghz. |

| Vista home premium 64 bit | The cpu info is of no use, is the computer self built or from a shop? If it is from a shop the make and model will do and I can work out what motherboard you are using. |
