Vista x32 Printer driver problems

I have a stand alone laptop running Vista Business, which happily allowed me to plug in and out of any USB port my printer (HPLaserjet4300dtn). Maybe a coincidence or not but I recently upgraded to Office 2007, and now every time I plug in the same printer it sets it up as a new device driver, so I have multiple drivers of the same printer. To attemp to clean this up I tried to delete the printer drivers and now the printrer wont work at all. Can't uninstall them and so I can't intsall a new driver from the HP site. I just don't know what's happened.

Disconnect the printer, uninstall printer driver/program, then reboot.

Delete folder containing the printer files. Example - C:\HPLJ4300. Never delete if you are uncertain.

Then reinstall the driver, and follow the prompts about reconnecting the printer.

I am having a problem with my spooler printer driver, I can't seem to get anything to uninstall, or install because it is not working, it says I have to turn it on to turn on the printer. plz help
