Ports Com and LPT

I have a communications driver that is used to open a communication with my embroidery machine and my computer. It usually runs on com port 3. I upgraded to Vista Ultimate recently and cannot find any ports in my device manager. I cannot get the communications driver to work. I have been told that I need to turn on the com port 3 but have no clue how since I can't find the ports in the device manager. Any help would be appreciated as this program is useless without being able to turn it on.

I assume the driver for the machine was made before vista came out. If so you either need to get a newer driver, or install the current driver inn compatibility mode. (right click>properties>xompatibilty tab> check xp sp2

Hope this helps
