DVD/CD ROM shows Code 10

A customer installed Norton 360 on both his Pavillion desktop and Toshiba laptop running Vista Home Edition. Both DVD/CD ROM's ATAPI and TSST respectively are now showing Code 10 in Device Manager. What needs to be done as reinstalling the driver doesn't seem to do the trick. THANKS - - RON

Thanks for this reply. Have you seen this before? Should my customer install another product like Norton Utilities Premier Edition? RON

Ron

I was a long time loyal norton user untill they started having problems. the have become synonymous for bloatware that is next to impossible to remove. You have to get a special tool to un-install their AV.

Around here there are several favorites (all good). Microsoft security essentials is a nice small footprint av. It does its job in the background and you almost forget it is there.

Eset Smart security. My personal favorite.. Has both a world class AV and a built in firewall. Nice easy GUI, and almost idiot proof.

There is also Avast, Kaspersky, etc.

Hope this helps
