Unable to scan with Epson NX 415 printer

I tried to scan with the Epson NX 415 printer but I get an error saying that it is unbale to communicate with the computer. I installed the latest drivers, and when I was chatting with the Epson tech support, they had me try to scan with Pain, but that too did not work. So they said I had a problem with the Windows Image Acquisition (WIA) service and to contact Microsoft. Not sure what I need to do to get this working. I am able to print fine with the printer.

My OS is Windows Vista Home Premium 64-bit

Thanks

Melroy

have you checked in services to be sure that the service has not been manually stopped for some reason?
Type services.msc into the start search bar and hit enter
Scroll down to Windows Image Acquisition and check that it is started and set to automatic

Melroy have you resolved your issue? I am having same problem with new nx415 using Vista Home Premium 64bit.
Scan utility does not work.
Have uninstalled and re-installed several times.
I have an email in to Epson tech support.

Hi all.

Had a similar problem with a Lexmark a while ago. Lexmark hadn`t released any drivers for the scan utility, just basic printing drivers so it was basically stuffed. A mate of mine suggested using Windows photo gallery to import pictures etc from the scanner. This is just a generic scan utility and it worked perfectly for me. Not Ideal I know but better than nothing if your scanner is bricked.

If you want to give it a go just click file in photo gallery and select import from scanner from the drop down.
