Getting new Vista Display Driver

I have been trying to play an old game from 1998. I've set windows compatibility to what it has told me to. The game will start but its missing several graphic things. I've searched and have found out that I need to turn down the Hardware Acceleration, problem is my current driver does not allow me to turn it down. So if anyone could provide a step by step answer with "Working" links to drivers that would really help. The game is Axis and Allies: Iron Blitz and I have Windows vista home premium 64 bit.
