usb Brother 2142 laser printer on xp works fine, but vista says XP machine has the "wrong driver" and cannot connect.

Both machines can see each other perfectly otherwise.

Please, does anyone know how I can fix this, or know a workaround?

my recomdendations with printers throw it out the window lmao hate em

best thing to do is go to the website and find the driver

last option go into device manager and see if it is reading it wrong or found it

Yeah. Tried that already. Vista driver wont talk to XP driver. All the XP machines are working fine.

No exclamation marks in device manager.

In the instal there is a stage where u can select other OS for compatibility instal.
Only older operating systems were listed with XP driver.
