USB port issue

I have an HP touchsmart running Vista Ultimate x64, and i have a USB problem.

Prior to logging in I need to remove USB devices and then plug them back in after the machine loads otherwise they don't work . Wouldn't be a big deal except that I use bluetooth and need to re-pair bluetooth devices through the wizard if I want to use them - which is annoying.

Thanks,
Dale

Hello mystre,
I keep coming back to this post, its a puzzle.
Try un-installing all your USB drivers in Device Manager, reboot and they will re-install themselves, see if that does anything.
Is it just the standard USB plugs, no USB hubs or anything like that, no special drivers or the like ?.
Try the un-install and post your results, good luck.

Just an afterthought, follow this tutorial to check your file system, if the USB ports are not being recognised, then it could be an error in your OS

What is the model number of your unit? Re-installing Chipset drivers will definetly help with an issue like that. May also be caused by static electricity, so try doing a power-cycle ( Remove all power sources, and press and hold power button for 90 seconds ) then reconnect and power the unit on, see if then you are able to properly use the unit.
