left mouse not working

Hello everyone... I need big help.

All of sudden my left mouse is not working. Right click works fine all the time and mouse moves around just fine. It is only left click that does not work. If I wait long enough, anywhere between 10 to 30 minutes, then left mouse works okay for while... then stops working again.
This is what I have tried already.
1) Use different mouse...still doesn't work... use current mouse on different computer... works fine.
2) Change the Click speed... does not work
3) Use different USB port.... does not work
4) Uninstall and reinstall mouse driver.... does not work
5) Format and reinstall windows vista (3times)... does not work

Since I format and reinstall windows... it probably is not registry issue nor driver.
I tried different mouse and still didn't work... not a mouse issue.
I tried 7 different USB port and didn't work... probably not a USB port bucause others work (printer, scanner and keyboard)

What could possibly be the answer to my problem? Could it be the motherboard?!

Please help me....

Thanks

John

Welcome!

Probably not a motherboard problem.

I'd suggest try a System Restore. You may want to scan for viruses using Malwarebytes too.

I can't do a system restore because I already format the hard drive 3 times.
It can't be virus bucause I only installed windows vista (original CD).
Any other suggetion will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks...

Hi there, I have the same problem. Quadcore PC running Vista with corded USB optical mouse. After a while, it would stop responding to left mouse clicks. Since then I have installed a new hardrive and a clean install of Windows 7 Pro. I still get the same problem! I've tried another, corded mouse (non-optical), in different ports. So, it's not the operating system, it's not the mouse and it's not a particular USB port. All points to the whole USB bus perhaps? However, here's the thing - if I do Ctrl-Alt-Del, roll the cursor down to start task manager, the left mouse key springs back into life...!

What gives?

Hi there,

Try uninstalling your mouse drivers in Device Manager and reinstalling. It seems it may be a driver issue. You might also create an Ubuntu Live CD and see how that works.
