How to delete iPhone disc from "Computer" directory

I have an iPhone icon in my "Computer" directory which I can't get rid of. I have removed iTunes, etc. from my system but can't get rid of this icon. I can't delete, eject, safely remove, anything. I can't see it anywhere in the device manager, even after invoking the command line SET DEVMGR_SHOW_NONPRESENT_DEVICES=1, and "showing" hidden devices, it is nowhere to be found. I can't find a registry entry, or directory entry which even resembles this.

How do I get rid of the iPhone disc?

Hi,

You may have tried this but, open Device Manager, under Portable Devices > Apple iPhone, remove this.

Else, type "services.msc" into run and press enter: Find "Mobile Device Driver" and make sure it is disabled.

To make sure everything is gone:

Download the Windows Installer Cleanup Tool from here: http://download.microsoft.com/downlo...bd/msicuu2.exe WARNING!: This tool is very powerful, and you should do nothing we do not tell you to. You can do huge damage to your computer with this tool.

Run the Windows Installer Cleanup Tool (This will be at the top section of All Programs)

Remove all the following entries (the program will seem to crash while removing, let it finish) If any of these entries are in more than once, remove all of the entries. If you think I have missed an entry, confirm it with me before removal. Check at the bottom of the list, and under "(All Users)"

Apple Application Support
Apple Mobile Device Support
Bonjour
iTunes
Mobile Me Control Panel

Thanks again Richard.

I have done all you suggest, that is the weird part. I have removed all signs and traces of Apple software and this icon persists.

It does not show up as a disc, mobile device, USB device, etc. It is truly a phantom. When I right click on it, I get none of the options to modifiy it, or remove it.

I can create a shortcut to it, but the shortcut points to a registry key in the Windows/ CurrentVersion/Shell Extension/Cached branch. I delete the key and the iPhone is still there.

This is really annoying.
