Undo whatever the registry booster did using a system restore, I can almost guarantee you that you've been conned and it's done more damage than good.

What is on your C:\ drive and how big is it?

Go into Control Panel->Add/Remove Programs and remove any bloatware or stuff you no longer use.

Empty your recycle bin.

This should free up at least some space.

Please could you fill in your System Specs under User CP so we can help further.

Please be more specific about what's on your HDD.

I uninstalled the Reg Booster.

A few question we need answering:

Size of C:\ Drive,

What is stored on the drive (pictures/media/games/videos etc.),

whether or not you've emptied the recycle bin.

When I said computer Idiot I was'nt bull****ting.

I can see that.

I would seriously recomend upgrading to 80GB or 120Gb HdD, they don't cost much nowa days.

You really don't have enough space for much of anything.

Home Basic is aimed at people who use there PC for web browsing and maybe email and the occasional Word Documentand is only instaaled on stupidly small HDDs.

You still haven't said if you've emptied your recycle bin.

I think you may have uninstalled some important drivers.

Do another System Restore to fix them.

Would upgrading to Windows 7 sort my problems out?

Not really, but if you want to anyway please do.

You really either need a bigger hard disk or need to remove almost everything big (or lots of small things) for it to have enough space for a pagefile to do it's job comfortably.

Well obviously, if you move many files all at once, your fragmenting the blocks of your HDD. Have you simply tried a third party defragging utility like Auslogics disk defrag or iobit smart defrag (i wouldnt use Vista's defragging utility as it causes slower boot up and shut down times)? It usually if not right away, puts about 120 GB back on my Seagate TB drive after about a week (but still should free up some space).

Also, Right click on your Local C: drive and choose disc cleanup to remove maybe Gigs of temporary files and useless minidumps (if they are useless to you).
