Solved Both Rw drives not working under Vista

New to these forums can someone please help
In desperate help as have not got clue what is causing these 2 Rw drives not to work ? (1 internal/1 external) under Vista home basic..

I think it all started when I tryed to install vista again. The internal drive failed to read/write and I read you have to change UpperFilters & LowerFilters in HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318} both these filters do not exist.
I thought maybe the drive might be corrupt, so bought external usb Rw drive(plug&play) but this also fails to load any disks. Can't re-install Vista or anything for that matter..

Any help would be great please.. I have no hair left

Thanks for your reply. Yes they are both showing and I managed to load Vista again after cleaning internal drive but both drives seem to work when they want to.. Note: the external drive is brand new.. Hope this makes sense, thank you

Start by going to the drive makers site and downloading the latest drivers and be sure you have the latest installed.

Hard or optical drives rarely have drivers now adays, so this is abit confusing to me.

Have you updated your mobo chipset drivers lately?

Checking around, it appears to be a Sony, and there are no drivers, just internal firmware.

The chipset is all the thingys like the usb, and pci ports on the mother boad, aka mobo.

Those drivers come from the manufactuer site.
What computer and model, or motherboard is it?

ad 7560s driver (Optiarc) 7, Vista, XP, download

Try this, download to your desktop, go to device manager.expand the drive right click and update driver. When it asks do you want to go on line or browse your computer say browse and go to the downloaded file. restart after installing.

Hm, I do believe I did say RARELY. That driver is most likely ripped out of windows. So while the dvd has a driver, like every hardware device, you cannot d/l it from the manufactuer, and require someone to get it from a nonaccesible place. As had the driver ment to be around, you'd have found it somewhere other than 1 user submitted place.

And further google search actually found that it is a reg error that seems to cause it. A simple change also seems to fix it.
dvd/cd driver problems (optiarc dvdrw ad-7560s)

Yes, its in an ipower, but the hardware is the same.

I was giving the thread starter some ideas as it says in my signature, not giving instructions.2624 people have downloaded that driver so I figured it worked,and it did.
