cd/dvd drive not burning

Hello,

I've been reading almost everthing on this subject and I'm so frustrated that the things I've tried haven't resolved my problem.

I tried cleaning the lense very carefully,
using different types and brand of media,
doing the FixIt thing from Microsoft,
uninstalling the drive and restarting,
deleting upper and lower filters thing,
doing the GEARAspi update thing,
deleting Itunes,
trying to find a driver from LG site for HL-DT-ST DVDRAM GSA-T50F...nothing,
looking fro drivers on the Gateway site and installed the ones they had...no cd/dvd driver though, and
restoring everything from the factory install.

Nothing seems to work. The only driver I have working on my cd/dvd drive is cdrom.sys. Should I have other things in there? Like PxHlpa.sys or redbook.sys?

I, currently, don't have iTunes and I have the upper and lower filters deleted becuase of the problems other people are having with this.

Right now, I can burn stuff, after restarting, but it doesn't always complete the process.

Is there something else I should try?

I want to make sure that I've exhasted all software possibilities before I take it to the place I bought it from as the extended warranty only covers hardware.

Thanks for the reply and your assistance.

I did try to download the driver-firmware from the link provided, once before, and it takes me to LG's website. When I do a search on my drive, to find the driver...it doesn't exist. What I do find is the T50L and T50N, but even these don't have info on them. I tried sending their support an e-mail, but haven't received a response yet. That was a month ago.

I'm weary of downloading the Burn4free software becuase I can't find any good reviews on them to convince me that it will be a good alternative.

With all the problems other people are having with this issue, (having GEAR, Norton 360, and iTunes together), I may have to wait for some magic fix....if there is one.

Try this fix from Microsoft.

But I did try this solution earlier. It was one of my first attempts at finding a resolution. I did everything including deleting the upper and lower filters in the registry.

Sorry I didn't check the site. It was just an advert for them don't go there. Hate that bull**** and sent him an email telling him so.
From all I have been able to find only xp drivers are available

I posted that on the wrong reply.
The Burn4free site is the one I mean to advise you to stay away from

Could try anyway as you have nothing to lose.
