The infamous display driver igfx stopped responding. AGAIN.

Whenever I try to play World of Warcraft and get into anything involving action whatsoever, my entire screen will go black for about 3-5 (or more) seconds, then display the massage "Display driver igfx stopped responding an was recovered". This will happen as often as every 15 seconds, which is extremely annoying, inconvinient, and disorientating.

I've searched throughout countless threads, as well as almost the entirety of google, but to no avail. From what I've heard, it's most likely due to an out of date driver. I've tried downloading new drivers and all, but it will either download correctly but not fix the problem, or say "Your computer does not meet the requirements for this dowlnoad." Please help, this is driving me to madness. MADNESS I SAY!

System specs are as follows, I can provide any additional information if neccisary:

OS: Windows Vista Home Basic 32-bit
Model: Compaq/HP 6720s (Laptop)
965 Express Chipset Family

Where are you getting the drivers from?

I thought wow ran on everything, and intel says it does too.

I'm always suspecting heat when gaming on laptops, d/l hwmonitor from here and have it running while you play.

I was getting the drivers from suggested links on forums, as well as HP and Intel's official websites.

Apparently not, in fact this is an extremely common issue with vista.

I tried it, Im pretty sure nothing out of the ordinary was detected.

I'm not quite sure which of the temperatures you mean, but gaming is barely effecting them at all. Most of them will just stay around 65-75C wether I'm gaming or not. When I get the igfx black screen, the temperatures increase by about 2C, but thats not too much clearly.

75C is hot for the cpu, for an intel gpu, I'm not sure max... Nvidia is about 110C

But i do find it odd your gpu doesn;'t increase atleast 20C when gaming... Mine can be 40 or more.
