Try to roll back from device manager.
Type event viewer in search and look for errors in task manger
Try a system restore from a time the driver was working

System restore will only change the Operation System. If you made changes to drivers System Restore will change that.

Also i just fixed the problem of having more than 2sticks of ram in wont that make it not work again?

This is commonly caused by:

1.) Installing burning media or, specifically, iTunes.
2.) Removing that software affects your DVD-ROM driver, GEAR Software's driver. You may see it as a "Lower Filter / Upper Filter" value in the registry or something along-side PxHelp20.sys / GEARAspi.WDM, etc.

If you trust Microsoft's "Fix It For Me," here's the link. It does what I'm about to describe.

Your CD or DVD drive can't read or write media

You can go to GEARSoftware.com and locate the driver wizard to install. Save it to desktop. Do not install it.

Or, you can go to regedit.exe and create a full registry backup.

Then, go back into regedit.exe. Go to Edit / Find, then (only check first 3 boxes, NOT the last, which requires a "full match,") and search for:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

....by highlighting only the key between* the brackets. That path should appear at the bottom of the registry editor pane.

Right-click (in the viewing pane to the right) and delete values that suggest:
1.) ClassUpperFilters
2.) UpperFilters
3.) UpperFilters.BAK

4.) ClassLowerFilters
5.) LowerFilters
6.) LowerFilters.BAK

Once done, immediately exit regedit.exe and restart.

You should see your DVD-ROM drive re-appear in MyComputer/Computer.

A third / final solution is to download (from www.yamicsoft.com,)
-WinXP Manager, -Win7 Manager, - Win Vista Manager,

...and locate the Repair Center. It's in the first tab. At the bottom under General Repairs (look over a few tabs to the right once you open the Repair Options, clik the "Fix" dialogue button for "FIX Issue with CD/DVD Drive NOT appearing in MyComputer." Immediately restart.

Good luck,

Turns out it still didnt work with disc so i went back into device manager and checked driver details there was a second driver there that was left behind from stupid itunes...
So i checked up on it sure enough tons of other people were having problems with it messing up there optical drive.
Got this from another forum. (For anyone else that runs into this same problem)
Anyway I have resolve the issue:

To resolve this behavior, follow these steps:
Start Registry Editor (Regedt32.exe).
Locate the UpperFilters value under the following key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Locate the LowerFilters value under the same key in the registry:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Contro l\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}

On the Edit menu, click Delete, and then click OK.
Worked for me! :)

EDIT:

Seems the guy up above me already knows.
