fvevol.sys missing or corrupt?

I was doing a defrag on my netbook last night when I rested my hand on the area next to the touchpad and all of a sudden the screen just bursts into a massive colour frenzy and the whole things basically crashes. I turned the computer off and back on again and tried defragging again, everything went normally except the screen crashed again. I turned it off once more and this time I got an error saying fvevol.sys was either missing or corrupt. I tried booting in again using all safe modes and last known good configuration but the error keeps appearing. I can't use startup repair because my netbook doesn't have a disc drive and my external drive isn't here. I don't know what to do here so could someone please elaborate?

Thanks

Welcome
Difficult problem
I am unfamiliar with this procedure but if it works, you will be able to boot and hope to get to system restore

If you can, go back about a week before the problem with system restore.
I have not tried this boot procedure, myself and am not familiar with the outcome.

Did you try to get to System Restore, with the safe mode procedure?

Hi, thanks I'll try a system restore. I can't actually get into the computer though, I can only mess around on the startup menus and I keep getting this message.
