Just had an Idea. Try to downlad the 6 to 4 for XP to desktop and then install in compatibilty mode. That would work.

I'll try that. Do you have the URL from which I can download the XP version?
Might take awhile to feel comfortable with that compatibility mode, Never did that. Thank you,

Mike

I don't think I can do this because 5to4 in my device manager is gone because it has been uninstalled. I didn't know I was opening a can of worms with this.

This link explains how to re-install the 6to4 driver.

6to4 problem continued

3. To reinstall the driver for 6to4 adapter, enter Control Panel.
. . . (Do not use Classic view, use Control Panel Home view.)
4. In the top right corner, type Install drivers.
Click to the search result Install drivers for old devices with Add Hardware wizard.

5. Click Next, in the next window, choose Install the hardware that I manually select from a list (Advanced).

6. Select Network Adapter, and click Next.

7. In manufacturer list, select Microsoft, then select Microsoft 6to4 Adapter in network adapter list.

=======================================================

Here's another link with a different way of getting to the same thing.

diagnostic says I need to re-install microsoft 6to4 #2 adapter, how do I do this? running vista home premium 32 bit

Thank you for the instructions on reinstalling 6to4. Worked beautifuly!
6to4 went in, I did a restart, checked device man, can't find it. But it is there.
Clicked on the internet---wouldn't go in, messed up the ip address----but it would recognize my shared documents in my other comp. This was done with ethernet hookup. My wireless switch shows orange whether it is in the left or right position--like the card or driver wasn't there.
I corrected the ip, but can't hook the laptop to the router or it will misconfig again.
One step forward, one step back.
Baffled but not beaten,
Mike
