Hello and thank you for reponding so quickly.....I just did a quick review on the links that you sent me but not sure if they will work I'd just like to clarify a few things to give you a better picture. First off my computer would not start up in windows I took it to a shop and they wanted $350 to fix it. I did some research and came up with the hp recovery for vista......I looked at some things in the safe mode but could not figure much out so i decied to go ahead with the recovery. I used f11 to start the recovery manager and went on from there all was going good until the windows setup window came up it had a check mark at the pre-pininst and did its thing then restarted when it came back on all I got was a blank screen and it has stalled there. I have tried to redo it a few times now but stops at the same point. I cannot start again in safe mode because I get a popup window saying Windows cannot complete installation in safe mode. To continue installing windows restart the computer after doing so it returns to a dark screen and stays there.

Hi,

First a few questions: -

Do you need to recover or save any files on the system or are they already lost?

If not or they are lost, please try a destrucive install i.e. Delete the "C" partition & format it. Then select this space as the recovery selection. DO NOT DELETED ANY OTHER PART OF THE SYSTEM.

If you have ANY questions ask BEFORE acting. OK?

>>> I just wanted it to start back up in the original form from the factory.

Suggestions :

1. Call your HP manufacturer. Ask for a tech to show you how to use the recovery partition. They created the parition. They know perfectly how to use it.

2. Ask HP for a set of recovery disks. The cost is minimal. Use the set to do system recover.

Again, go to your HP website, look for graphic card driver update.
You may need an update.
