Hi,
I found this old thread which relates exactly to the problem I am experiencing:
Ricoh SD Host Controller
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
I am able to install this , and get an updated driver off windows update.
HOWEVER, in device manager, I see this message with a yellow "!"
This device is not working properly because Windows cannot load the drivers
required for this device. (Code 31)
Click 'Check for solutions' to send data about this device to Microsoft and
to see if there is a solution available.
Any ideas how to fix this?
And there was this answer:
RE: Ricoh SD Host Controller
I figured out the problem. I have the Inspiron 6400, so your mileage may vary.
When I updated the device Ricoh SD Bus Host Adapter (under SD host adapters
in device manager) it messed up the Ricoh MMC Host Controller. So I went to
device manager and rolled back the latest version for the SD bus Host Adapter
(I am now using version 6.0.5384.4 dated 6/21/2006) and the problem was
fixed.
So the MMC controller device driver wasn't really the problem. It was just
the symptom.
Hope this helps.

I have tried to do the same but my "driver roll back" link is faded and therefore not available.
Each time I uninstall and then install the driver it says the driver is up to date (version 6.1.7601.17514) but in Device Manager I still got the yellow triangle with the exclamation mark and needles to say, the SD card slot does not work.
Any further help with this will be most appreciated.
Thanks.
