Microsoft UAA High Definition Audio Driver for VISTA, not XP, help!!

I've had the dreaded "No Audio Output Device Is Installed" I've been at this for three months and well over 200 hours now. The next fix that has been proposed to me is to download the UAA Bus Driver. The guy was saying that this will enable my computer to find my audio. The problem is that there aren't any of these Bus Drivers listed under my computer on the HP website. I've seen quite a few other UAA Bus Drivers to download, but none of them are listed with Vista compatability. Most of them say they are compatible with XP. I believe I have Conexant High Definition Audio. Downloading the drivers from their website and HP do nothing. I'm convinced that if anything is going to work, it is going to be this UAA Bus Driver, but I can't find one anywhere that is compatible with Vista. If anybody could help at this point, I literally would be forever greatful. I had to buy a completely new laptop because I just got a job working from home using my computer, and I couldn't do my job without sound. I passed frustrated about 10 weeks ago. Went past ridiculous. Now I am borderline insane. Thanks folks.

Welcome
Everyone, who has had sound problems, has found a solution in this article. It is usually only a driver, but you have been there and done that.
No sound in Windows

Thanks for the quick reply. I've been through most of that stuff. But...

"Notes

If you think you have a sound card installed, but you don't see it under the Sound, video and game controllers category, expand the Other devices category and check any devices listed there.

Laptops don't usually have sound cards. Instead, they have integrated sound processors, which appear in the same category in Device Manager."

---I don't have a Sound, video and game controllers category. I think I found the item though under System Devices, called System Speaker. This might be part of the problem. I also have another laptop, nearly identical, with the same exact operating system, and it DOES have the heading of Sound, video and game controllers. Is it possible that my system somehow deleted this heading, and that is, in fact, the root of my problems? I simply glossed over this before because I figured finding the "system speaker" under System Devices heading was the same thing. My other laptop does not have "system speaker" listed under "system devices". I think this is nothing but could be wrong. Thanks for the effort anyways, much appreciated.

There are a couple of things you can try, as this sounds as if a registry error has occurred somehow. One is called scannow , using a command prompt . Another thing might be a repair using your OS dvd in the advanced start up methods in your bios. Try the SFC method first, if that does not, then do the repair method. Here are the links to use.
