No DVD after Factory restore of Vista

HP Pavilion DV 6000. After a factory restore of Vista, the DVD player no longer shows up in "MY COMPUTER"

I have replaced the drive. I have used CD Gone. I have gone to registry and looked to see if upper filters or lower filters were there <they weren't> so I couldn't delete that.

I've looked in the Bios. Drive is enabled. I've looked in device manager. No drive is listed. Disk Mgt. shows no drive.

My research indicates that it has been a problem in Vista operating systems. I am out of options.

Any assistance would be greatly appreciated!

If the drive is shown and enabled in the BIOS, it sounds like you need to go to the Dell support site and download/install the driver.

Set a restore point (IMPORTANT) then do this

    press Windows key and R
Type regedit, and then click OK.
If you are prompted for an administrator password or for a confirmation, type the password, or click Allow.
In the navigation pane, locate and then click the following registry subkey:
    HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Class\{4D36E965-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
In the right pane, click UpperFilters.
On the Edit menu, click Delete.
When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
In the right pane, click LowerFilters.
On the Edit menu, click Delete.
When you are prompted to confirm the deletion, click Yes.
    Exit Registry Editor.
    Restart the computer.
