Unable to uninstall network drivers

System : Vista 32 bit SP2 loaded on HP Compaq portable:
I have installed Virtual Box in order to run Win XP on my Vista machine.
With each new update of VirtualBox loaded, an updated Bridged Network Adapter c/w driver is loaded. At some point in history (autumn 2010) the bridged adapter failed to work and remains so today.
I finally traced what I think is the problem. Due to some conflict (I suspect between an MS update and a VB update), an existing network driver failed to uninstall during the update, resulting in 2 drivers being in the system but with the same key. After that, with each new update a new driver was installed (at one point there were 10). Windows is aware that it should find a driver but is unable to do so.
I have previously uninstalled all the drivers that I could using {Control Panel}{Device Manager}{Network Drivers} "Uninstall". The uninstall fails. 3 drivers remain that cannot be uninstalled.
In RegEdit I have found 13 folders concerning these drivers and 13 driver files in {Windows}{System32}{DriverStore}{FileRepository}"Driver name".
RegEdit will not allow me to delete the 13 folders.

I reported the problem in a VirtualBox forum and filed a bug report (https://www.virtualbox.org/ticket/7706) but I think the problem is entirely within my particular Vista installation and that therefore nobody was able to provide an effective solution.

My question is therefore, How do I uninstall these 3 remaining drivers ?

A solution to this long running problem will be highly appreciated.
