Printer Installation Error in Windows Vista Home Premium x64

Set the machine up, plugged it in via direct USB connection to the computer. The printer seemed to install correctly, as Vista regnized the model and the popup in the system tray indicated that the drivers had been successfully installed. The printer appeared in the Printers folder. Printing a test page resulted in the error message "Test page failed to print. Access is denied." Printing also failed from all applications (Word, Excel, Firefox, Acrobat...) Error messages ranged from "Unknown Error" to "There are no printers installed." There does not appear to be any spooling occurring, as the printer icon never appears in the System Tray, not even for a moment.

Can anyone please help me on this, this is the second printer im setting up, i just returned a canon pixma printer yesterday thought it was a driver issue not compatible with vista but it is also occuring to my new epson nx 330 series

2 things to check.

1 Is the spooler service started?

To do this click on your window start orb then type in services.msc in your "start search" box.
click on nam,e to put everything in alpabetical order and press P. Ensure Print Spooler has been enabled.
Next ensure that you have installed the printer as administrator.

Hi roy69, i have checked. Printer spooler is running, I have installed the printer as an administrator. Just want to ask, what is tcpmon.ini? does it affect any function of the printer service. Thanks
