Conexant Driver Problem, very strange!

I have a HP zv6000 laptop with the Conexant AC97 audio board. I have Vista 64 Ulimate running on it and have spent hours trying to get the audio to work correctly. I have searched forum after forum and tried all the drivers people reccoment. Intel, ATI, Realtek, etc. I can get them to work in testing mode or by F8 but the sound quality i terrible, popping, cracking etc.

Now here is the problem I am hoping you guys can help with. I found the HP realtek drivers for XP64 SP30305.EXE that work without F* and without using testing mode. Now the strange part about them is if I start my computer and then install the drivers manually the sound comes on and works great. But when I restart the cimputer the next time I get a blue screen on vista loading with the "IRQ NOT LESS OR EQUAL" error and it restarts. Sometimes if I keep restarting it will eventually not bluescreen and will make it in to windows and work great but its not very convienant sitting there restarting for 20min to get it to work. If I go into safe mode and remove the drivers, restart and then install them once im in windows they work fine again aarrgghhhh!!!! Is there anything I can do to get thise working??

After a long time using the ATI Integrated audio solution (i.e. the one with the ported 64bit drivers using the "Disable Driver Signature Enforcment") on by full Vista Business x64, I stumbled upon a solution today from Dell, of all places. Go to dell and download "R145571.exe" (search "r145571", should be there). [EDIT: I JUST SEARCHED IT AGAIN TO MAKE SURE: it appears in the search but reports a dead link once you click on it. For sanity sake, I will attach the driver below!*] Then, run the program (it just unzips files) cancel the automatically popuping setup, and manually update the audio driver from Device Manager. You will have to to the "Let me pick the driver" spiel because "it may not be compatible" yata, but once you navigate to the Vista64 folder in browse, select it and click OK, you will have fully signed sound my friend!!!

It has taken me over a year to finally get a fully functioning Vista x64.

Enjoy!!
